Artist Statement

Stemming from seemingly random observations of my everyday life, my works are a study of my psychological reception of visual imagery from my personal experience. A spot on my left eye, my cavity prone teeth, and dead mice floating in my swimming pool are some of the subjects in my life that I create into my sculptures. Mechanistic visuals, contradicting integration of the organic and inorganic, and the abject qualities of the uncanny body are the fundamental elements I use to investigate the re-occurring components of my personal experience such as, loss of control, beauty, revelation, death, futility and fear of the unknown. The kinetic-mechanistic aspect plays different roles throughout my work. The animation of inanimate objects has always stirred up curious imaginations and emotions.
